I'm thrilled to be teaching in the education program and am honored to be with you in this course. Here's a quick bit on me -- after spending the previous seven years in Virginia Beach, I relocated to Forest, VA (near Lynchburg) this summer. I've earned a Ed.D. in distance education with a focus in instructional technology and design from Regent, an M.A. in counseling (with a dual concentration of community and school) from Regent, and a B.S. in elementary education from Huntington College. I have a teaching license in the state of IN; I hold an LPC and license in school counseling in the state of VA. I also have several dozen doctorate counseling courses under my belt and, in the spring, hope to continue to work on a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. My research and writing has been focused upon Resiliency in Children, Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and Adult Third Culture Kids, Online Support Programs for TCKs and their Internationally Mobile Families, Online Learning Environments and Collaborative Learning, Web 2.0 technology and semantic web, and Synchronous and Asynchronous CMCs.
On a more personal note, I've been married to Michael since 2002 and we have a cat- Minnie. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with Michael. We enjoy "tinkering" on our computers and exploring the great outdoors -- hiking, biking, and running. One of our favorite vacation spots is Disney World - we get to visit both Mickey and my parents.
